Dr Stewart Harding (Honorary Associate Clinical Professor )

The programme is presented by Stewart Hardingtogether with an international team of recognised experts. He is also the Associate Director Postgraduate Dental Education Unit, Institute of Clinical Education University of Warwick. Since qualifying in 1982 he has held various full and part time hospital appointments and introduced osseointegrated implants into his restorative and orthodontic practice in 1985 since which he has successfully placed and restored several thousand implants.

 

Stewart was instrumental in the development and establishment of the University of Warwick Masters degree in Implant Dentistry. This successful programme has proved very popular with over 120 enrolled students, making it the largest postgraduate dental course in the UK. He is involved in several research projects into the response of bone to substitute bone materials and authored numerous articles on the subject of implantology, lecturing internationally. Stewart is the developer of a dental implant system, the most widely used British implant in the UK and has patented several implant applications.

GIFT commenced its  course in Sudan, with a new intake starting October 2009. The GIFT programme has been recognised by the GDC (Sudan) as a requirement to be licensed to practice implant dentistry. The new Sudan course has over 30 students enrolled. At least half of these students are keen to continue on to the University of Warwick Masters programme. GIFT is now able to offer hands-on training in its clinic facilities in both Dubai and Sudan (Elrazi College). Clinical training is supported by a dental laboratory well equipped with state of the art technology where dental technicians will receive instruction in the fabrication of implant restorations.
