Dental surgeons intending to provide implant treatment should receive direct supervision during implant placement and restoration by an experienced clinician until an appropriate level of competency has been demonstrated. Also the ability of a dentist to undertake more advanced implant surgery should be mentored and formally assessed by a suitably competent and experienced individual.
GIFT's training and educational programmes also provide supervised clinical training and evaluate competency. Participants of this unique hands-on teaching programme will learn implant placement techniques on their own patients and placement guidelines will be put into actual practice.
GIFT students can refer patients to Regional Centres for implant treatment under close supervision. Tutors will help in treatment planning and provide support and guidance in the assembley of a case portfolio. |
